The Bethany Support Group is a voluntary parish based ministry which aims to help the bereaved and grieving.

The name Bethany recalls the visit of Jesus to Mary and Martha on the death of their brother Lazarus.

Many Bethany members have themselves been bereaved and are trained to listen with understanding and offer support through the grieving process and also accept the bereaved just as they are.

While the services offered by Bethany vary somewhat from parish to parish, Ballymoney and Derrykeighan Parish provide:

1. Home visits to the bereaved.
2. Listening support - NOT COUNSELLING - to the bereaved.
3. Telephone support to the bereaved.
4. Support at November Mass for the Dead.
5. Help with funeral liturgies, funeral service and will be in attendance at Month’s Mind masses.
6. Help with funeral preparation.
