4th July 2021

Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time

In the Gospel this weekend we hear something about the wider family of Jesus.  We notice that Jesus does not get a warm reaction from his relatives and the people he grew up with.

Sadly we too have relatives and friends who do not follow Jesus or who don't practice the faith.  That can be a real worry for us at times.  But just as Jesus doesn't reject those who won't accept him in Galilee, so too he doesn't reject our loved ones either.  Let's pray for them that God will give them the gift of a stronger faith.  And let's show them the difference knowing and loving God makes to us by the way we live our lives.

PRAYER TO THE PRECIOUS BLOOD

After marking May as the month of Our Lady and June as the month of the Sacred Heart, the Church now encourages us to remember July as the month of the Precious Blood of Jesus.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
