Pentecost Sunday

The feast of Pentecost celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit who Jesus promised he would send down upon his friends after he had ascended to his father in heaven.  The is the third holiest day of the year after Easter and Christmas!  The Spirit came upon the apostles after they had been praying with Our Lady.  They felt the Spirit like a gust of wind or a flame of fire—but the Spirit is more than that.  It is the loving power of God in action!

Each of us received the Spirit at our baptism and more fully at our confirmation.  This week more than thirty young people from St Brigid’s Primary School will receive their confirmation—let’s keep them in our prayers.
