Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time
In this week’s Gospel, Jesus carries out a miracle to give his apostles hope. Just when they had given up their fishing expedition the Lord tells them to try again—and they get a huge haul.
But Jesus doesn’t just want them to be successful fishermen. He wants them to be fishers of men (and women and children!) You see, Jesus wants his followers to play their part in building the kingdom of God. He wants them to share the Good News they have heard and the good things they have received. And if they do they will draw others to God. This Gospel should be an inspiration for us today. There are so many people who need to hear about God’s love, and we have our part to play in sharing the Gospel with them. May the Lord help us to be fishers too!

BROADCAST MASS
BBC Radio Ulster will be broadcasting our Sunday morning Mass on 13th February. It will also be available to listen to online on BBC Sounds.
The broadcast runs from 10.15am to 11am next Sunday. Those who wish to attend need to be seated in the church for 10am as normal. This means that you should expect to be in the church longer than normal next week. If this doesn’t suit you may prefer to attend Mass on Saturday or Sunday evening.
Those who watch on the webcam should note the later start time too.
ONLINE LENT STUDY COURSE: THE PSALMS
The Psalms are the ancient prayers/songs of both Judaism and Christianity and are included in our Liturgy as well as the Divine Office of the Church. During Lent, when we are asked to give more time to prayer, we will explore and pray, in the company of C S Lewis, some of the most beautiful Psalms. The programme is for ‘Anyone at all whose heart is open to new dimensions of human experience… like someone who has not had a good meal for a week or two. It is all there.’ (N T Wright)
The programme will run online:
Tues 1 March for 6 weeks until Tues 5 April
A second programme will run as follows:
Thurs 3 March for 6 weeks until Thurs7 April
Time: 7-8.30pm
To register, please contact Kieran Hill stating your
preference to attend either the Tuesday or Thursday evening session.
