Nineteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time

This weekend the Gospel picks up again with John chapter 6 where Jesus explains that the Bread God sends us from heaven is truly his Body & Blood.  Some of those who listen to him refuse to believe him, but the Lord does not back down from his teaching.  Sadly, there are still people who do not believe that the Eucharist is the real presence of Jesus among us.

As Catholics we do believe what Jesus has taught us about the Eucharist.  It may seem crazy to think that a small host of bread can become the Body of Christ—but Jesus says it is true, and we have faith in him.  As a sign of our faith in the Eucharistic presence of Jesus in this parish, we will open Our Lady & St Patrick’s church for private prayer every day from Saturday on (see times below).  Please do come when you can to spend time in prayer with the Eucharistic presence of Jesus.

However, in line with government and Church regulations, this year we are able to add in person

FACE COVERINGS

The Northern Ireland Executive has updated the guidelines for face coverings in churches at this time:

  • There is still a legal requirement to wear face coverings on entering and leaving the church building.
  • When people are in their pew then face coverings are
    recommended but optional.
  • The priest should continue to wear a mask when
    distributing Holy Communion.
