Parish Bulletin
10th July 2022
Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel we hear the famous parable of the Good Samaritan which Jesus told to teach us the importance of being a good neighbour.
The Jews listening to this would have been surprised that Jesus made the hero of this story a Samaritan. Jews and Samaritans were as bitter towards each other as the two sides of our community can be. So we should listen to this Gospel especially carefully! In a divided society like ours, Jesus wants us to be good neighbours. And if we do that, it will be so much easier for us to receive God’s gifts of peace, reconciliation and (one day) unity.
