Parish Bulletin

10th October 2021

Twenty Eighth Sunday of Ordinary Time

This week is Baby Loss Awareness week.  In the last couple of years our parish has taken a special interest in this important issue which has affected many of our families over the years.

Last year we announced plans to develop a garden of remembrance for those who have lost babies to be dedicated to Christ the Good Shepherd.  Jesus describes himself as the Good Shepherd who knows each of his flock by name and who does not allow any of them to be lost.  That promise gives us comfort and hope that God is looking after these children who mean so much to him and us.

You can read below about the progress that has been made so far with the garden and how you can support the project.

BABY LOSS AWARENESS WEEK

An online service of prayer for those who have lost children has been recorded at the Causeway Hospital.  Fr Damian and Christina Kerr from our parish are among the contributors.  It will be available to watch through Facebook on Sunday afternoon at 3pm.

GARDEN OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Work is continuing on our Garden of the Good Shepherd.  A new path has been laid and flower beds will be planted.  Many thanks to Sean Kerr and Aidan Reid for their work on this project.

We are hoping to commission a stone relief panel showing Jesus the Good Shepherd to be mounted on the garden wall.  The proposed panel will measure 74x55cm and the cost will be around £2500. You can see the design for the panel in the photo at the top of this page.

If you would like to make a contribution to the cost of the garden it would be much appreciated.  Cheques or cash can be left at the parochial house (please mark on the envelope that they are for the Garden Appeal).  You can also make a one off payment online to our bank account using the details below.

THE MONTH OF THE ROSARY

October is the month of special devotion to the rosary.  For this second week of the month we might
focus on the newest set of mysteries—the Luminous Mysteries:

1 The Baptism in the Jordan   (Matthew 3: 13-17)

2 The Wedding at Cana   (John 2: 1-12)

3 The Proclamation of the Kingdom of Heaven  (Mark 1:15)

4 The Transfiguration   (Luke 9: 28-35)

5 The Institution of the Eucharist   (Mark 14: 22-25)

Our friends at the Catholic Minute Facebook page pray the rosary together at 8pm each evening from Mondays to Thursdays.
