Surfing Life’s Waves - a book by Jim Deeds

Surfing Life’s Waves takes the reader on a journey through the ocean that life can be, with its highs and lows. Written simply, using the author’s daily experience, this book is for anyone who is curious about life, love, God, and the purpose of our existence. It is an easy to read collection and will especially appeal to young people.

Jim Deeds is a husband and a father from Belfast. He currently works as co-ordinator of parish development in the diocese of Down and Connor. During his 44 years of life so far, Jim has also worked as a busker, film-maker, playwright, barman, glass washer, social worker, therapist, manager of a children’s home and an NHS manager.

It is this variety of life experiences and his observations along the way that Jim brings to bear in his writing; always looking for the spiritual and the greater meaning amidst the ordinary day-to-day of life. The author enjoys playing music as a hobby and writing as a healthy everyday addiction he hopes never to kick.

This is Jim’s first book and is available from Shanway Press.

“I don't surf, I can't even swim, but I've been 'surfing life's waves' with Jim.
“I am privileged to teach young men and specifically have pastoral care for 23 16-year-olds.
“We’ve begun to use the book as a touchstone for their sense of Spirituality,
it speaks in their language and links the common ordinary life events
and reveals the opportunities for a ‘God’ moment.
“The lads now ask each Monday: ‘Can we do God with Jim.’”
- Paddy Linden, teacher
